A former Anglican Benedictine novice and also for a time a member of the Shaker community in Maine, USA, Bishop Alistair subsequently became a priest in the Liberal Catholic Church International. In 2007, he formed the Companions of the Cross and Passion, now a dependent religious order of the LCAC, and was consecrated to the episcopate by Bishop John Kersey (Mar Joannes). He is also a keen Freemason, Knight Templar and Chief Druid of the Trinity Grove, a Christian Druid order and Celtic spirituality group.

Based in Edinburgh, Bishop Alistair has a busy ministry that includes healing ministry, teaching Celtic Reiki, leading study groups in esoteric theology, wedding, blessing and funeral ministry, alongside the daily Eucharistic worship at his oratory. He is a popular speaker and workshop leader on esoteric subjects. He holds a Master's degree in Divinity from the University of Edinburgh and now enjoys his role as a mentor and tutor to students preparing for LCAC ministry at European-American University.

The Oratory of St Paul of the Cross
The Oratory of St Paul of the Cross in Edinburgh is a private chapel which is open to members of the public by special arrangement. The Divine Office and Mass or Holy Communion are celebrated daily.

The Oratory of St Paul of the Cross contains relics of the True Cross, St Benedicta, St Fortunatus, St Bruno, St Paul of the Cross C.P. and St Teresa Margaret of the Sacred Heart (Carmelite). There are also first class relics in the tabernacle of St Philip Howard, St Justin Martyr and Blessed Isidore of St Joseph C.P. Mar Alexei as Custodian of the Oratory is happy to make available Third Class relics of the True Cross (a piece of cloth touched to the relic).

The Parish of Our Lady and St Tugdual
Further public celebrations of the Mass take place via the Parish of Our Lady and St Tugdual, which meets at the Theosophical Society in Edinburgh on the second Sunday of each month at 3pm.
